Memory Care Residences are Ready for Move-in at Summer House

Visiting guitarist entertains Summer House residents.

"An exceptional memory care community is designed to provide peace of mind for families and caregivers, but more importantly to enhance the quality of life for those with Alzheimer's and dementia," says Doug Tucker, Vista del Monte's executive director. "All too often, families wait until there is a true need to find a qualified memory care community."

Doug is referring to Summer House, the newly opened memory care community on the Vista del Monte campus. This unique memory support "neighborhood" offers personal care for residents with Alzheimer's and related dementias. Protected and comfortable inside and out, this special place features the latest engagement technologies, modern sun-filled rooms, private patios, garden paths, and a community room. This intimate neighborhood of 24 residences features modern comforts and classic styling.

"Summer House at Vista del Monte is distinguished by engaging, compassionate care that emphasizes dignity and whole-person wellbeing," Doug said. "Every day, we work to meet the needs of each individual at Summer House. Our compassionate staff helps residents flourish through personal attention, meaningful connection, and opportunities for self-expression. Summer House is a place where individuals with cognitive and memory challenges can truly feel at home."

Summer House features residences designed for those with cognitive impairment.

One of the hallmarks of Summer House is the positive impact of leading-edge innovation on those living with cognitive impairment. Through the Music and Memory program, residents tap into what's meaningful to them. PARO the robotic seal creates a therapeutic, care-based connection, and the iN2L touchscreen allows residents to access a host of apps that focus on engagement, music, art, exercise and virtual travel.  Skype allows us to nurture bonds with family and friends outside the community.

Within Summer House is a "Sensory Room," that doubles as both an engagement and quiet space for residents. Alexa enabled, the room provides needed stimuli or relaxation through voice commands that control the environment including lighting, audio and video.

"We use technology as a tool," Doug said. "It complements our own brand of compassionate care that never goes out of style. We are always looking for new ways to support Summer House residents."
